Bad luck happens to the best of us, and there are innumerable ways your camera may get wet. In my case, I once dropped my camera in a river while kayaking. If your camera does get wet though, there are some things you may do to increase the prospects that it will stay functional. This is a collection of info I have found for the duration of the exploration I did after my camera got wet.
Once your camera gets wet, without delay remove the battery and memory card. These will be the easiest two things to save, even if the camera is toast. Now, if you drop the camera in salt water, it is in all probability best to rinse the camera in fresh water (preferably distilled) to remove any salt. If you have silica packets (often found in the packaging of some each and everyday products) put those in a bag with the camera, as they work great to absorb moisture. If you don’t have any silica, even rice will work in the same way to control humidity and remove moisture. You may also remove the case of the camera if you want and let it air dry, or use a hair dryer on the lowest setting. Whatever you do, do no turn the camera on until you are positive all the moisture is out of the camera. It is best to do a exhaustive drying occupation as turning it on with any water left inside will likely fry the circuitry. As soon as you are able, you must likewise call a local camera shop and ask them for advice, and they may want to take a look at it.
Another method you may undertake as suggested by one of my friends is to rinse the camera in distilled water, hang arid it, and then wrap it in a lot of socks and duct tape it to the inside of a drying machine. After running the dryer for a few hours all the moisture must be altogether removed. My friend claims this has worked in the past on a cell phone.
Doing these things may not fetch your camera back to life, but quick action may improve the prospects your camera will work again!

 Great underwater picture taking alternative

What a wonderful alternative to taking underwater pictures. No need to spend a couple hundred dollars on a underwater housing case or a few hundred for an camera specifically made for underwater. Also don’t settle the the cheap one time use under water cameras. These cases allow you to take beautiful clear pictures using your own digital camera. I needed a waterproof case for my Canon PowerShot SD1100IS 8MP Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Blue) and since I already owned a Dicapac for a another brand of camera I knew there would be no other choice for me than the DicaPac brand. This is a terrific way to protect your camera from water, sand and even snow. The optical lens sometimes interfere with the camera’s zooms lens, just make sure to hold the lens from the camera’s view. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. AWESOME, It worked Great

I bought this last month for a trip to Belize and Guatamala. My first use was on a river cave tubing trip, so it only got wet off and on, but took great pictures. I was hesitant when I went snorkling at the reef off of Belize, but WOW, I was able not only to take pictures, but able to switch over to video on my camera. It’s not easy with the plastic, but it can be done. You can also see the screen on your camera when you are taking pictures. We went snorkling twice and I was in the water for a few hours, great product. My camera was safe and DRY all the time, no leakage.
